Well, we cannot imagine Monsoon without the good old "Bhutta" (Corn) can we??
From feeling awesome to hold and eat a 'bhutta' as a kid, to it being used to prepare various meals like curry and soups, corn has been a part of our lives in the monsoon!
Remember Mahabaleshwar? Remember the famous corn patties you love to eat there in the monsoon??
Today I will show you how to make the much loved and sought after Corn Patties.
My recipe is very easy and to prepare.
Ingredients:1. Sweet Corn- (250 grams)
2. Potatoes- (250 grams/about two small potatoes - or one medium sized potato)
3. Rice flour ( 100 grams)
6. Green Chillies (2-3)
7. Red chilly powder ( 1 tablespoon)
Procedure:In a pressure cooker, cook the sweet corn and potatoes for 10 to 15 minutes.
In a bowl, mix the sweet corn, potatoes (smash them) and all the ingredients mentioned above.
Salt, corriander and Garlic according to taste. If you wish you may add less or more of the chillies and red chilly powder.
Use water judiciously. We need to prepare a dough of all the above ingredients so be careful that the water is not too much and your mixture does not run.
After the dough is prepared knead it for a minute or two. Divide the dough into tiny parts and give them a bit of shape.
Take a non-stick pan and let it heat up.
Add a little oil. Now add the raw patties.
Add a little oil onto the sides of the patties.
Shallow fry the patties till they are golden-brown. ( You need to turn or flip them so that they are well prepared from all the sides)
Once they are golden-brown from all sides, remove them from the pan.
And you are done!!
Corn is known to improve bone strength, control diabetes and hypertension and is a rich source of vitamins
So, do prepare and serve the corn patties to your friends or family or guests. Makes a great snack for breakfast or tea time.
